Corporate Christmas Gifting in India: A Simple Planning Guide for HR Teams
Corporate gifting usually goes wrong in the same two ways: it starts too late, or it picks something nobody uses. This guide gives you a simple plan for both.
Start six weeks out
December is the busiest month for printers and couriers. If you want gifts on desks before the holidays, start shortlisting in early November. Starting early also gives you time to see a sample before you commit the full budget.
Set a budget per head, not a total
A per-person number makes every later decision easier: which product, whether to personalise, and whether to add packaging or a note. Check whether the budget needs to include shipping, especially if people work from different cities.
Choose gifts people keep
The best corporate gifts are used daily and seen often, so your brand or message stays visible long after December. Good options sit somewhere between useful and personal:
- Logo mugs: simple, affordable at scale, and on desks all year.
- Personalised mugs: each employee's own pet or name. More effort to collect details, but far more memorable.
- Phone cases: a premium choice for leadership or top performers.
Plan how you'll collect details
Personalised gifts need input from each person: a pet photo, a name, a phone model. Collect this with a short form rather than chasing people one by one, and set a deadline a week before your order cutoff. Have a fallback design ready for anyone who doesn't reply.
Decide on delivery early
Shipping to one office is cheapest and simplest. If your team is remote or hybrid, you'll need a clean address list and a budget for individual shipping. Ask your vendor to quote both before you decide.
Always see a sample
A digital preview checks the design. A physical sample checks print quality, colour and packaging. For any order of 50 pieces or more, it's worth asking for one before paying the balance.
A week-by-week timeline
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Early November | Set budget per head, shortlist 2–3 gift options |
| Mid November | Get quotes, order a sample, send the details form to employees |
| Late November | Approve the sample and designs, pay the advance |
| 1 December | Final order confirmed with the vendor |
| Before 20 December | Gifts delivered to the office or to each employee |
Keep it inclusive
Teams in India celebrate different festivals. Framing gifts as "year-end" or "holiday" thanks, with winter or neutral designs, works for everyone.
